About the ingredients

These seafood treasures, included in the Shiki Parents’ Day Set, are carefully selected for a premium home dining experience. Bafun uni — or short-spike sea urchin — is known for its clean, sweet quality that lingers gently on the palate. It is immediately recognisable by its bright sunny or orangey egg-yolk colour and is commonly found in the northern waters of Japan, near Hokkaido and further up north. Around the world, including Singapore, bafun uni is sought after by MICHELIN-starred restaurants and private dinners, used in dishes from pasta to sushi, risotto to claypot rice — or simply enjoyed with seaweed and soy sauce.

A bevy of premium produce

Also of note is Shiki’s Mentaiko, marinated pollock roe brimming with a savoury umami flavour, specially chosen and brought in from a famed mentaiko maker. This set also includes Lumpfish Roe, tiny, crisp pearls that pop when eaten, offering a bold, salty and distinctly savoury taste with hints of the sea.

Bring home also opulent Japanese beef, namely Mizayaki Wagyu Steak, where Japanese ranch owners take pride in raising their cattle with high-quality grains, wheat, rice, and fresh mountain water. The result is beef with excellent marbling that melts in the mouth like buttery goodness.

Also included is a Lobster Tail, with a natural sweetness, firm texture, and pristine freshness. It delivers a tender, juicy bite after cooking and is versatile enough for grilling, butter poaching, or serving as part of a premium seafood pasta.

The Pasta Pack ensures home chefs can whip up a complete celebratory meal — excellent with seafood or as a mentaiko pasta dish. Each set also includes Special Rokusuke Salt, a premium Japanese sea salt crafted using time-honoured methods and 100% natural seawater. Infused with umami-rich essences from high-quality Hokkaido konbu, dried shiitake mushrooms, and dried Japanese scallops, it is ideal as a finishing salt for grilled meats, fresh seafood, and pasta dishes.
