Each box is carefully selected by our purveyors at the Hokkaido markets, and delivered directly to your doorsteps in Singapore. Yellow uni has a creamy yet lighter taste compared to the reds. The uni is caught off the coasts of Hokkaido, Japan and melts in your mouth, leaving a sweet and fragrant aftertaste. Many Italian chefs use the uni for their risottos, pastas and linguine dishes.

Every morning, our purveyors carefully sift through the boxes of uni available to select and choose the uni to our exact specification and quality.

Rest assured that the uni you receive will be of top quality.

Freshly harvested Japanese bafun uni has an intense yellowish-orange colour with firm texture and tastes like chestnuts.

The brands we get are one of the biggest and most sought after uni brands in the world. The meticulous nature of the staff in selecting the uni bring forth one of the highest quality uni bento boxes in the industry.

What's the difference between yellow and red sea urchin?

Yellow and red uni are almost the same. The main difference according to our head chefs and specialists is purely the colour! Some uni tend to be red while others yellow or orange. This could be due to what the uni eat or simply a trait of that particular uni. Taste wise, they are more or less the same as well. However, some uni enthusiasts do say that the yellow and orange uni is sometimes slightly creamier and sweeter, while the red is slightly drier and richer in its briny flavour.

Uni is best eaten with/as:

  • sushi rice, pasta, risotto;
  • other seafood like botan ebi, salmon and ikura;
  • rich foods like Japanese beef, ootoro & chutoro; or
  • dried Seaweed, ohba

*Kindly note that packaging might vary depending on the auction results in the mornings.
