Live Abalone (Awabi) Facts

Kyushu is famous for their sweet abalone that live of its rich coasts. Freshly caught and farmed Japanese abalone off the coast of Kyushu are extremely sweet and melt in your mouth. Best eaten as sashimi, on the grill or in the BBQ. 

  • Texture: Firm, but buttery in your mouth 
  • Taste: Sweet and succulent
  • Colour: White
  • Weight: >1kg (100g to 300g per abalone)
  • Each box weighs roughly 1.2 to 1.5kg
  • Recommended: BBQ or Sashimi to be consumed within 3 days

  • Sashimi
  • Sushi, Rolls, Maki
  • Chirashi Don
  • On the BBQ 
  • Grilled with salt and pepper
  • Lightly seared with butter
